From 1st October 2008 Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) will become mandatory for all new lets starting from 1st October 2008

Some of the rules are still unclear and our professional association ARLA is seeking clarification from local government.

We understand that an Energy Performance Certificate will be valid for 10 years.

If at any time during that 10 year period you decide to carry out works to improve the EPC rating, then you can reapply for a revised assessment.



An EPC must be made available to any prospective tenant before they have committed to the property or indeed before they have viewed the property.
